Reduced Spread of HIV/AIDS in Zambia MDG 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases Camryn Wong IB Geography October 24, 2015 Word Count: The United Nation created eight Millennium Development Goals to reduce the increasing disparities between the developing and developed worlds. The sixth goal focuses on the combat of HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. Zambia is a prime example of how this goal was achieved. The HIV/AIDS epidemic in Zambia that started in the mid-1980s has since stabilized (HIV AIDS). There have been large efforts made to reduce the number of new HIV infections each year and educate those at the age of most risk on how to avoid these diseases. Improvements in health and knowledge haveâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The government showed strong commitment to addressing its health resources for health challenges and has seen progress since their push for improvement. There are four indicators which provide evidence that this target was met. Immense progress has occurred in combating HIV/AIDS in Zambia and these indicators were used to monitor that progress. The first indicator was HIV prevalence among the population aged 15-24 years old. The goal for this indicator was to reach 15.6% or lower by 2015. Zambia had already reached the target by 2002 and by 2007 had exceeded it with 14.3% (Millennium Development Goals). These statistics show that the percent of HIV incidences in Zambia were decreasing and surpassed its goal only two years into its 15 year timeline. HIV incidences have stabilized in Zambia but the absolute number of new infections is actually rising due to population growth. Although the Zambiaââ¬â¢s national MDG target has been met, this does not show the disparities within the country in HIV prevalence rates amongst provinces. Lusaka and Copperbelt are the densest provinces and also had the highest HIV prevalence, over 20% in 200 7. This shows that HIV can spread more easily through dense places like cities. There was an increase of new HIV infections from 1998 to 2002 that could have been caused by a range of factors such as lack of awareness and use of services, low use of condoms, or low rates of male

The person may feel to be mature enough to take self-care as well as the care of the other person. The person may feel to be financially stable to be engaged to a new relation. Being financially stable, the behavior will also turn towards positivity. Issues with remarriage and management Though the remarriage sounds better, there are issues after this. The remarried couple faces several questions regarding their past life. Moreover, the maximum problem is a face from the part of the children who find difficulty in adjusting to their new parents and often abuse them (McNamee et al. 866). This mango leaves are anti-asthmatic, antiseptic, antiviral, cardio tonic, emetic, expectorant, hypotensive and laxative. In India, cows were formerly fed with mango leaves to obtain their urine euxanthic acid which is rich in yellow and has been used as dye. In the Philippines, mango leaves are used as herbal medicine because it can cure many illnesses. The enzymes of the mango, such as mangiferin, katechol oxidase and lactase, clean the bowel of the filth within and are an ideal antidote for all toxic effects inside the body. They provide also sufficient resistance to fight any germs and afflictions. The leaves contain glucoside mangiferine. Mangiferin from the leaves has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, diuretic, chloretic and cardio tonic activities and displays a high antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria. Conceptual Framework CHAPTER III METHODOLOGY Collection and Preparation of the Materials The materials needed are the following: Mango leaves, water, newspaper, twelve (12) white mice, basin, twenty (12) small plastic cups (egg cups), six (6) cages, measuring cup, water bottle (500 mL), casserole, two (2) Furosemide tablet (40 mg) and weighing scale. Preparation of Extract Weigh 500 grams of mango leaves using the weighing scale. Wash the mango leaves properly and place it in the newspaper for drying. After drying, put the mango leaves on the casserole containing 500 mL of water and let it boil for 5-10 minutes. Preparation of the Experimental Set-ups 1. Prepare the twelve (12) small plastic cups. 2. After boiling, put the extract on a 500 mL water bottle for storage. Measure one (10 mL), 5 mL, 6 mL and 3 mL mango extract. For the Furosemide tablet (40 mg), dilute in 30 mL water and measure (10 mL) of it. 3. Pour the (10 mL) mango extract on the small plastic cup. Dilute the 5 mL extract on 5 mL water, the 6 mL extract on 4 mL water and lastly, the 3 mL extract on 7 mL water. Pour the solution on the small plastic cups. 4. The five (5) mice are to be given treatment and each of them is placed in different cage.à The remaining seven (7) mice are being kept in one cage and to be given a 10 mL extract. Testing the Different Treatment Diluted in Water Use one (1) mice for the 10 mL solution (puree), one (1) mice for the 10 mL solution (diluted in 50% water), one (1) mice for the 10 mL solution (diluted in 40% water), one (1) mice for 10 mL solution (diluted in 70% water) and one (1) mice for 10 mL solution of Furosemide (40 mg) diluted in 30 mL water. 1. Sources of prosperity The sources of the 1920s prosperity consisted of four main factors which were: consolidation mergers; second industrial revolution; assembly line mass production, other growth areas and income misdistribution-sick industries. To begin with, the first consolidation merger had happened during 1895-1904 and the second occurred during the 1920s. In the era of the 1920s people were becoming used to big business and they were no longer a threat to them. Big businesses offered their employees benefits which helped them with health insurance. One struggle that starter businesses faced is the problem of Oligopoly, which one industry controlled three businesses. These practices made the business world less competitive. Second Industrial Revolution involved mainly the Henry Ford Company (1903) which produced their most famous model which was called ââ¬Å"Model T.â⬠The company made this model for over twenty years. Cars during this time were expensive to make and very little people could afford them. Car prices were about $850 during 1908, because Henry Ford wanted cars to be available for people. Through this mass production of cars there were three innovations: Assembly Line, raised wages, and credit. The assembly line for workers was a complete change in their work force it speeded up the process of making cars. Before the assembly line, it took twelve hours to build a ââ¬Å"model Tâ⬠but after the assembly line, it took one and a half hours to make a car. By 1927 the price of a car dropped to $290, which was two months of your work wage if you were a wo rker at Ford. Secondly Henry Ford raised his workers wages to five dollars a day to keep his workers in the job. Credit, was the last innovation: people were buying everything with credit by the 1920 credit left everyone in debt. The credit allowed people to get what they want on loan. By 1929 in the United States 80% of all American families owned a car which was 1 in 4 people. With the General Motors Company also growing in size, people were able to purchase cars in different colors, which led to some social consequences. Automobiles helped the rural people by breaking down rural isolation, gave country people access to towns and cities and even doctors. The coming of trackers helped increase food production. The consequences of automobiles is it made Americans mobile; it allowed people to find jobs that were further from their homes and people could go wherever they wanted to. Cars were a form of entertainment: they helped to change daily habits of most Americans, premarital preg nancies increased, and cars were being used by criminals. Additionally, other growth areas consisted prosperity: It consisted of ancillary industries such as steel, oil and rubber, which were industries that were dependent on car industries. The multiplier effect was one job in the car industry would be equal to more jobs in steel, oil and rubber companies.
